Every so often, we encounter a person so devoid of intelligent thought or any sense of common decency beyond that of a toddler that we don’t know whether to feel sorry for them or expose them to the world so that their blend of stupidity and faux bravado are, hopefully, contained and eliminated from the possibility of further contamination.
Meet Jackson, Mississippi, Councilman Kenneth Stokes, a bloated mass of incoherent syllables and undigested Little Debbie snack cakes that, according to the City of Jackson website, purports himself a “man of God” and a “devoted father and husband.”
He neglects to mention that he advocates throwing “rocks and bricks and bottles at (police officers in pursuit of suspects).” (Just an oversight, I’m sure…)
Here is his exact quote: “What I suggest is we get the black leadership together and as these jurisdictions come into Jackson, we throw rocks and bricks and bottles at them,” Stokes told WLBT-3 News.
In addition, Stokes (I refuse to further recognize his title) thinks it very Christian-like to call other people names. Here is a video of Stokes referring to Undersheriff Raymond Duke after Duke blamed Stokes (rightfully, I might add) of being responsible for an officer’s home being shot up by gutless thugs:
Here is the rest of the story, courtesy of BlueLivesMatter.blue:
Jackson, MS – Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes held a press conference on Friday to address Rankin County Undersheriff Raymond Duke after the lawman blamed Stokes’ violent rhetoric for a police officer’s home getting shot up in what appears to be a targeted attack on police.
“The first thing I’d like to say is, Duke is a hog-head lying bastard,” Stokes said.
“Show me a picture of him and tell me he don’t have a hog head,” said Stokes. “He just lied saying that the people of Jackson like we all shooting up a house and he sure a bastard.”
Keeping it classy, he went on to say that the Undersheriff is only one of many “racist thugs” operating under the cover of law enforcement, according to MSNewsNow.
The controversy goes back as to early 2016 when Stokes said that people should attack law enforcement officers to prevent them from pursuing criminals into Jackson.
“These are just thugs with guns and badges,” Stokes said at the time. “What do I think should be done? Bricks, rocks and bottles would stop this nonsense.”
“What I suggest, we get the black leadership together, and as the jurisdictions coming in to Jackson, we throw rocks, and bricks, and bottles at ’em. That’ll send a message: we don’t want you in here.”
Somebody appeared to have taken up the councilman on his suggestion following a vehicle pursuit on Tuesday afternoon when Pearl Police Department officers pursued suspects into Jackson. On Wednesday night, suspects opened fire on a Pearl Police officer’s home while the officer and his wife took cover inside. That officer was not involved in the pursuit.
Much of the house had serious damage and the suspects escaped. Now the officer and his wife don’t feel that it’s safe to go home.
After the shooting, Undersheriff Raymond Duke released a statement which said:
“A coward is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as a person who shows shameless lack of courage. Some synonyms for “Thug” are; gangster, goon, gorilla, punk, also as defined by Webster’s Dictionary.
Tuesday night some cowardly punks committed a “hate crime” against one of Pearl PD’s finest. It doesn’t appear race was an issue, so let’s dismiss that before we go further.
Pearl Officer Alfred Jenkins and his wife were inside their South Jackson home when criminals fired in excess of twenty rounds into their residence. The only apparent reason is that Officer Jenkins chose a noble career that has now become looked at with disdain and hatred.
Officer Jenkins spends his working hours trying to protect others as they sleep or rest peacefully in their home. Now that same peace has been stolen from him and his family.
Hiding in the dark, some cowardly punks targeted Officer Jenkins for his career choice. It is by the grace of God the Jenkins were not injured. The attack against Officer Jenkins has forced him to move out of Jackson for his own safety.
If the thugs weren’t encouraged to throw rocks, bottles and sticks, maybe they would not have felt so comfortable in attempting to assassinate an officer simply because of the job he does.
If you personally know a law enforcement officer in Mississippi, you know we don’t do the job for the money. Most have to work a second and maybe third job just to provide a decent living for our family. Yes, that was our career choice and we knew we would face danger and possibly death. You just don’t expect it to happen in the security and sanctity of your own home.
The feeling of security and comfort will forever be changed for Officer Jenkins and his family.
Part of that change includes moving to another area where he can hopefully regain a feeling of safety. Officer Jenkins would never solicit help from others, but now is the time for others to lend a helping hand to Officer Jenkins.
The attack left most of the Jenkins living room and bedroom destroyed. TVs, furnishings, and memorabilia, were all destroyed. Let’s show Officer Jenkins our support by making a donation to a fund setup by Pearl PD for the Jenkins.
Sgt Brown with the Pearl Police Department is the point of contact if you would like to make a donation. The phone number from Pearl PD is 601-939-7000.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God.
This post is my, Raymond Duke’s, personal opinion and may not be those of Sheriff Bryan Bailey or the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department.”
Now Kenneth Stokes is calling Duke’s statement “irresponsible and racist,” and he suggested that the Undersheriff even had something to do with the shooting.
Undersheriff Duke released a statement after Kenneth Stokes’ news conference, saying, “I will not allow the statements made by Ken Stokes to take the focus from the original message. We had a fellow officer who was viciously attacked by cowardly thugs and was in need of assistance. The outpouring of love and support for Officer Alfred Jenkins has been simply amazing. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support.”
