Not all heroes walk on two legs.
Cena, a bomb sniffing dog who served three tours in Afghanistan, was diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer in late July and not given much time to live. His wartime partner, Lance Cpl. Jeff DeYoung, adopted him after his he retired from duty in 2014. Cena became more than a dog to DeYoung; he became a beloved partner who helped him cope through tragedies and dark days.
When it became time to relieve Cena of his pain, DeYoung wanted to give him a proper farewell. And boy, did Cena receive one. The video of the ceremony is here, but watch only if you have access to tissues.
R.I.P., Cena. May you have dog treats and belly rubs aplenty in Heaven.
Hundreds gathered to pay their final respects to Cena
